Aeriel England, Licensed Cosmetologist & Private Studio Owner
/We all struggle with our levels of motivation. If we're not careful we can quickly find ourselves working to catch up instead of working to get ahead. Aside from grit, we have to identify our stress outlet and exploit it. Its the easiest way to stay focused. We really like Aeriel's approach towards client focus. As we quickly learn in business this is very important for more reasons than we wish to mention. We can't say this enough, we appreciate the time she and prior interviewees' have given us. Read her responses below and use them as motivation to start or continue your own plan for success
What lead you to start working in the hair and beauty industry? How long have you been doing it?
-I was surrounded by the beauty industry since I was a child, my mother did modeling and the transformation process she would go through leading up to her photo shoots always fascinated me. I was very inspired by the makeover process and started practicing on my dolls and any family member who would let me get my hands on them.
Would you consider this your passion? Do you have another field that you work in?
-My passion is truly instilled with the bonds I have made with my clients that have graced me through the hair industry. I truly believe that anyone can do a beautiful hairstyle if they are committed to learning the trade but the real drive I experience is with the lives I touch. I also work as an intuitive on the side. I'm mainly doing energetic channelings for clients who are looking for guidance and insight into life scenarios.
What is your craziest client story?
-My very first job, I had a client who came in and requested a "skull-ett" . Essentially, he would shave off every part of his hair bald, except for a small rectangle of hair that fell to the middle of his back. He had a thick southern accent and was very intimidating and stern. He never tipped and wouldn't speak a word while you cut his hair. After every cut he would tuck it back up underneath his trucker hat. Truly fascinating.
What is the one thing you want to accomplish this year(in business)?
-I hope to be pre booking into 2018, my client base is expanding and I would love to see a solidified calendar filled.
What is one long term goal you have in life?
-I hope to eventually own my own establishment in the hair industry and to really influence more natural and chemical free services in the salon. I believe we can find a way to reduce the toxins and waste in the salon to provide a more conscious experience for everyone. That is my goal.
Are you feeling positive about the country's stance on marijuana?
-I think it's time. I've seen the positive effects of concentrated oils for young children who suffer from seizures. I feel that if there is a way to provide a more gentle medicinal solution with less side effects for health issues, we should go for it.
Lastly, what is your ideal retirement scenario?
-Artists never retire.
