Autumn Brooke Toby, Licensed Barber
/This week we start with Autumn. We really like how open she is with her answers. There's a great strategy tip listed below about client relationships and being genuine. Hope everyone is applying this with all their clients. We'll be sure to reach back to her once a few months have passed by and find out what kind of things work for her when it comes to keeping her book of business filled. Read her responses below and use them as motivation to start or continue your own plan for success
What lead you to start working as a barber? How long have you been doing it?
I wanted a career where I could be creative and have flexible hours, also I wanted a steady job where I could still do other things down the road and travel. I have been working for couple years.
Would you consider this your passion? Do you have another field that or venture you work in?
I fell in love with barbering immediatly. I love my environment and co-workers that come from all walks of life. I grew up wanting to be a therapist. I love helping people feel good about themselves inside and out. This gives me an opportunity to do both.
Can you describe of who is your best tipper?
You never know who is going to tip you well or not. Sometime you can have a wealthy client that tips below average and vice versa. Usually if you have a good connection with your client and they feel you understand what they want and make it happen they will be generous
What is the one thing you want to accomplish this year (in business)?
My top priority is filling my book up with consistent clients and becomiing one of the most well know barbers in Lousville and eventually teach.
What is one long term goal you have in life?
My long term goal is to eventually have my own shop (old school style) with classic razor shaves and cutting methods maybe connected to a tattoo parlor
Are you feeling positive about the country's stance on marijuana?
Haha, yes. In the barber world we love marijuana. I personally need it for medical reasons and I'm excited about the awareness and progress it has made
Lastly, what is your ideal retirement scenario?
Honestly, I never think about retiring. I will cut hait until I die. Barber for life✌🏻
